Madhav Bhatia co-founded Vertari Legal and leads its constitutional and commercial litigation. He appears before the Supreme Court of India and the Delhi High Court, and before the Appellate Tribunal under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.

His constitutional work has included matters of general public importance, among them the questions of reservation for the Maratha community and of excommunication within the Dawoodi Bohra community, and proceedings connected with at least eleven references to Constitution Benches of the Supreme Court.

Beyond constitutional law he conducts mining and environmental disputes, commercial arbitrations and civil suits of substance, and proceedings under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act and the benami property law. He argues indirect tax matters and writes on them.

His method is research-led: the argument in a matter is built from the reported law and the constitutional principle beneath it, and then fitted to the commercial position the client is actually in.

Shreshth Arya co-founded Vertari Legal. He is a litigation and disputes lawyer with more than eight years of practice across trial courts, tribunals and appellate forums, including the Delhi, Bombay and Karnataka High Courts, the GST Appellate Tribunal and the Supreme Court of India.

His practice is concentrated on tax and economic offences: litigation under the Goods and Services Tax and Income-tax laws, proceedings under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, criminal litigation, tender disputes and regulatory proceedings, for companies and for individuals.

He advises on the shape of a dispute before it is filed, on the forum, the remedy and the order in which steps are taken, and then conducts it from the pre-litigation stage through trial and appeal. Companies engaged in proceedings in more than one State instruct him to co-ordinate them.

Shreyuss Shankar Joshi is a Partner at Vertari Legal. His practice is in corporate, commercial, regulatory and tax-related disputes, before the trial courts, the tribunals and the appellate forums.

It spans commercial litigation, insolvency and banking matters, arbitration, trademark litigation and white-collar crime. He has substantial experience of property litigation, including land disputes conducted for co-operative group housing societies.

A large part of his work concerns taxation, money laundering and cyber-fraud, including proceedings for the tracing and recovery of diverted funds. He acts for financial institutions, public-sector undertakings and companies, and advises them on the conduct of proceedings and the procedural choices within them.

Vivek Sura is a Partner at Vertari Legal. He is a litigation and disputes lawyer whose practice covers civil and commercial disputes, GST, arbitration, constitutional matters and regulatory proceedings, before the Supreme Court of India, the High Courts, the National Green Tribunal and the commercial courts.

He acts for public and private sector entities in matters arising from infrastructure, energy, environmental regulation, government contracts and indirect tax. Civil and commercial recovery litigation is a particular focus, conducted through the interlocutory mechanisms of the Code of Civil Procedure.

His work has included a suit by Indian employees against a foreign embassy in Delhi, on the threshold question of whether disputed issues may be decided on a demurrer under Order VII Rule 11 or must go to trial. He prepares a matter methodically, from the evidentiary rules outward.
