Intellectual Property

The chamber's intellectual property practice is contentious. It conducts suits for infringement of trademarks and copyright and for passing off, applications for interim injunctions and for the appointment of local commissioners, and the appeals that follow, principally before the Delhi High Court, whose intellectual property division hears most of this work in the country.

It also acts in disputes over trade secrets and confidential information, including those that arise when an employee or a distributor leaves, and in proceedings before the Registrar of Trade Marks that feed into litigation.

Where an intellectual property dispute sits inside a wider commercial one, such as a distribution agreement, a franchise or a joint venture that has come apart, the chamber's dispute resolution practice conducts the two together.
